Next Steps Wheel Throwing (Level 1.5)

Course Duration: 6 weeks, February 22nd - March 20th

Time: Sundays, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM

This 6 week course will focus on growing your toolbox of pottery techniques as well as reviewing techniques learned in our beginner courses. Students must have wheel-throwing experience and feel comfortable centering 2+ lbs of clay in order to keep pace with the class.

Members will receive a 20% discount on classes. Members please reach out to Common Clay Space staff for a discount code prior to signing up for class.

Curriculum

  • Week 1: Review on Centering and Pulling Cylinders, Shaping Techniques

  • Week 2: Trimming Techniques, Trimming with a Chuck

  • Week 3: Forms with Attachments (Planter with Saucer, Chip & Dip Bowls)

  • Week 4: Water Pitcher/Small Pourer

  • Week 5: Individual Work Day (Demo Requests)

  • Week 6: Glazing Techniques, Finish Glazing, Shelf Clean Up

Class Policies

  • Class fees cover instructed class time, use of tools and equipment, open studio hours, studio glazes, kiln firings and 1x bag of 20 lbs of clay (clay body is chosen at the discretion of the instructor).

  • To cancel a class, please email us and request cancellation. The cancellation request must be received two weeks prior to class start. If the cancellation request is received two weeks prior to the start of the class, a refund (minus $20 processing fee) will be granted. We are unable to accommodate cancellation requests received less than two weeks prior to class start.

  • No make up classes are available. Please review our class meeting schedule to ensure you are able to attend all classes.

  • Any items left behind 15 days after the final class meeting may be discarded. Reasonable attempts will be made to contact you for pickup prior to staff discarding said items.

  • Non member students will receive complimentary studio access outside of class hours during designated open studio hours.

  • Complimentary open studio hours only apply to the classroom wheels.

  • Classes are subject to change if the minimum student quota isn't met (6 students).
