Students will be introduced to throwing & handbuilding demonstrations on forms that work well in pit firing. After making, trimming and burnishing, we will travel as a group to the pit firing site to prepare our pieces for firing. All materials and firing supplies are included in this workshop.
Advanced Wheel Throwing Boot Camp
Miki Shim
This 3 week course will focus on advanced throwing and trimming skills using Korean style techniques taught by Bay Area artist and instructor Miki Shim. Students must have wheel-throwing experience and feel comfortable centering 3+ lbs of clay in order to keep pace with the class. Class will meet 2x a week for 3 weeks on Tuesday/Thursday evenings.
